Mountain Alchemy Tattoo Healing

If you haven’t heard the news yet, I have partnered up with my studio mate (and chosen sister) Sharon, and we have created a couple delicious products not only for your tattoo healing, but over all skin care. Our first product that has been getting rave reviews was our Organic Salve, this salve we are naming a “Stage 1” in healing. When the skin is open, fresh prior to peeling, our salve works tremendously well, especially if using Tattoo Armor pads ( not recommended to use our salve or any product under any type of second skin layer such as Saniderm). With rapid skin healing ingredients such as: Beeswax, coconut oil, aloe vera oil, calendula oil, vitamin E oil, adding in Organic Essential Oils such as eucalyptus, tea tree, thyme, peppermint… these hand picked ingredients are chosen to assist the skins healing process and help rebuild collegian that is broken down during the tattooing process as well as drastically reduce the oh so wet leaking stage of your stage 1 in healing.

OUR NEWEST BABE! Mountain Alchemy Butter & Glide. Our butter is specifically aimed for your “Stage 2” in healing, when your skin starts to do that snake like shedding, we recommend you switch from our salve to the Butter. Mountain Alchemy Butter is the most lushest product we have ever used to moisturize peeling skin, aimed to lock in much needed moisture as the skin is drying out faster then the Mohave desert. Why do we mention the word Glide? Because not only is it a stage two in healing, but Mountain Alchemy Butter also serves as a premium tattoo glide for artists during the tattooing process. Its smooth, nourishing texture mimics the body’s natural oils, allowing ink to flow effortlessly into the skin without disruption.

You can now find our Products within Black Sage Studio, or purchase on-line HERE!! Be sure to check out The Alchemy Pack, which is the best of both worlds, a Salve and Butter saving you $$. Thank you for your support! Dont forget to follow us on Instagram: @Mountain_Alchemy_Healing

Cover-ups post Laser Sessions at Black Sage

At Black Sage, we don’t just offer world-class tattooing—we also provide in-house laser tattoo lightening and full removal services, giving you the freedom to evolve your body art without limitations.

As tattoo collectors, many of us eventually find ourselves with pieces that no longer reflect who we are. Maybe you’ve outgrown a design, or maybe an older tattoo is taking up valuable space where you want to showcase something new. In many cases, clients want a cover-up—but in order for an artist to create their best work, without compromise, lightening the existing tattoo with laser first is often the best path.

While some artists may opt to “blast over” an old piece, this often results in a design that’s more about hiding the old tattoo than creating something new and meaningful. These types of cover-ups can limit creativity, forcing the artist to focus on masking rather than making the most of your skin tone, body placement, and the overall flow of the new artwork.

By receiving a few laser sessions, the old tattoo can be lightened enough to give the artist full creative freedom. Yes, it’s still technically a cover-up—but without the usual cover-up limitations. This allows the new tattoo to truly shine as a cohesive, intentional piece of art—not just a patch.

At Black Sage, we believe your body deserves the best. Our in-house Black Sage Laser, is led by expert technician Jim Wilcox, who offers free consultations to help you understand the process and create a plan that works for your goals.

Take a look at the example below—this is what happens when a cover-up is done right: the old tattoo was an entire half sleeve which was lightened enough to give me the freedom to “do my thing” without compromising style, palette, or composition.

Venice Italy

Returning from an amazing weekend in Venice Italy, where traveling for tattooing is done by boat/water taxi. My favorite city on earth, probably because what would be roads anywhere else, is water ways of all sizes. Makes for a super cool and unique way to get around the city. To and from tattooing days, with sounds, sights and smells to fill your travel bug soul. Such an inspiring place, I always leave Venice ready to paint, wanting to add in inspiring subject matter even more into my tattoo work… golden flourish aka grape leaves for days! I was thinking, I should add this subject even more to my work because I do love it so much, it adorns many elements of architecture, all frames are flourishy golden grape vine leaves, curling and moving along the edges. Then I thought to myself, to apply this but with even more black work that is current and modern. With that, if there is a client out there looking to adorn their skin canvas with golden flourish primarily, with an accent of another subject matter, black and grey/black design work draping the background, PLEASE DO reach out, free resign would be preferred.

Happy New Year 2025!?!?

Happy New Year everyone, reflecting back on 2024 I am so grateful for all of my clients, art collectors, and supporters. Without you I would just be creating art in a corner up here in my forest, but I truly feel nothing exists unless it is shared, so thank you for being on the receiving end of all that I do. 2024 had its challenges for so many, including myself, burning my candle on both ends… or maybe a 4 sided candle even, if you imagine that… feels that way looking back at the year and happy to be on the other side. Ready and waiting for what this year has in store.

Hard work finally paid off with the long awaited closing on the building that Black Sage Studio is in, Located in Evergreen Colorado. This has been my home away from home for over 10 years! And now I am the proud owner of this sweet adobe building, running through the renovations to connect the two sides of Black Sage, and unfold the updated interior that I had envisioned while not skipping a beat in my tattooing was not easy. But we are here! Thank you for not minding the construction as that was all going on, but so happy to share in the space with you all then and now. A few other small touches will be going on then I can really settle in and put my feet up!

Until then, I have completed a painting that holds a lot of meaning for me, which took me over a year to complete. I cant wait to share that with you all here soon. I also have the 10 year anniversary Black Sage merchandise that will be dropping soon, stay tuned for that! It is hung and tagged in the studio if you are visiting in-person! Be sure to take a look! I will post some on-line for sale in my store once I get to uploading that information.

Lastly, for now, I am finalizing my travel updates for the year, yeap the year of 2025! Stay eyes wide open for that announcement, here and on Instagram. It is going to be a busy year for me, as I can focus on my tattooing and travel this year more then last since the building project is complete. Thankful to be here on the other side, I feel, what I share with you all, is just the smallest tip of the iceberg, there is so much that goes on behind the scenes underneath that not many know of, as we all do. I just want to reassure you, that you are also doing so well swimming through life. Sometimes it can feel like swimming through honey, but trust me, you will get through it. But please please please, (as I say this I am coaching myself) do sit with the life you work so hard on, get cozy, settle in for a bit, and appreciate where you are… It doesn’t last long before another challenge is around the corner. Don’t lose sight of the stillness, it is necessary like drawing back an arrow, to take a breath, pause, aim, before letting go towards a new goal or an unwelcome challenge. Let that be our 2025 mantra.

Sending love and Gratitude your way! Stay tuned for all the things I am excited to share. See you in the studio or on the road!

Stay Warm!!!

Love~Melis
